Vanguard is the flagship Chapter 2 class. Rush Level 2 for Shield Charge — use it to escape Explosive Zombies and reposition during Hard Mode swarms. Pair with Operator or Medic in co-op for sustained pushes into irradiated areas.
Commander shines in 3+ player teams. Mark priority targets (Purple Elites, Night Hunters) so turrets focus them. Save Airstrike for Blood Moon or Hard Mode boss waves — one well-placed strike can save your base.
Rush to unlock Level 2 as fast as possible. In early waves, run in circles near zombies to proc the 10% conversion. By Night 15+, your zombie army handles entire waves autonomously while you focus on fuel collection.
Use your AK-47 sparingly in the first 5 nights. Conserve ammo for Boss zombies and Blood Moon events. After map expansion, use the Gun Shop to restock Medium Ammo. At Level 3, the increased fire rate makes you the best Blood Moon DPS in any team.
Use the sprint speed to kite zombies and collect fuel faster than any other class. The -30% aggro range lets you move through zombie clusters silently without triggering chains. At Level 3, always aim for the head — a single headshot on a Sniper Zombie kills it before it can shoot back.
Psychic is the answer to Night 20+ horde density. Stand on a Watchtower and use Confusion Aura when zombies pile at your funnel entrance. Psychic Burst during Blood Moon buys your team 5+ seconds to focus the Boss.
Fragger is built around the Grenade Launcher — buy extra ammo from Military crates after Generator L3. Never shoot into your own funnel. Save grenades for Purple Elites and Infested variants that outlast turret DPS.
Outlaw pairs perfectly with the Perks system — stack luck perks and open Perk Crates aggressively. Quick Draw chains during Hard Mode swarms. Save Emeralds toward this class if you enjoy high-risk playstyles.
Operator is the safest solo Hard Mode class. Self-Revive at Level 2 means one free death per push — use it to recover from reactor basement mistakes. Don't waste the revive on careless fuel runs; save it for Blood Moon.
Place your 2 starting turrets on top of 3-block pillars immediately (Tower Turreting). This is the Engineer's most powerful early tactic. At Level 2, combine with Repair Drone for near-unkillable buildings. By Night 50+, your base takes so little damage it practically maintains itself.
Guardian shines in co-op. Use Taunt to draw all aggro to yourself while teammates reload or repair. The 0.25HP/s passive regen at Level 2 means you barely need bandages in standard waves — save them for Blood Moons.
Berserker replaces Fighter for serious melee players. Build rage on Crawlers and Standard Infected at your funnel entrance, then pop Rage Mode when Purple Elites arrive. Never chase Ghost Zombies — let turrets handle them.
Place Bear Traps directly in front of your turret funnel entrance. At Level 2 they reset automatically — one trap can trigger 5-6 times per wave. At Level 3, pair your rifle with the slowdown to prevent fast zombies from bypassing traps.
Explorer is ideal for Day 1-10 fuel sprints on the new Farmland map. Use Scout's Eye before every Generator upgrade push to maximize fuel per trip. Pair with Scavenger teammate for ultimate loot efficiency.
Brew a full stock during every day phase — never enter night without 2+ potions ready. Fortify Potion on your Guardian or Vanguard before Hard Mode reactor runs. Damage Potion + Soldier AK-47 melts Bosses.
Scavenger's Level 3 X-Ray ability is arguably the best utility in the game for solo speed runs. You can see every fuel can and supply crate through walls, cutting your fuel collection time in half. Rush Level 3 before worrying about combat upgrades.
Farmer solves hunger permanently at Level 3. Place Greenhouse inside your base perimeter and ignore food for the rest of the run. Harvest during day phases for the speed buff when rushing fuel.
Medic is strictly a co-op class. In a 4-player team, assign one Medic to stand back and maintain teammate health during Blood Moons. The Level 3 buff — applied after healing — can turn a losing wave fight into a clean victory.
Fighter is for players who enjoy getting close. Use the Bait & Punish technique religiously — never swing without baiting the zombie's attack first. Consider upgrading to Berserker instead if you have the Emeralds.
Policeman is a solid starter class for players who don't have Emeralds yet. Your 64 starting rounds get you through the first 10 nights safely. Once the map expands, switch to a better weapon immediately — the Policeman's class bonuses become irrelevant with any rifle.
Stalker was available during limited events — check the Updates page for return windows. If you own Stalker, use Smoke Bomb to loot irradiated zones without Gas Masks temporarily. Shadow Step deletes Sniper Zombies before they acquire target.
Survivor is only for players who are brand new and have no Emeralds. Craft a Crowbar or Spear from the Crafting Bench as your first action to compensate for the lack of starting weapon. Save your first Emeralds for Policeman or Guardian to escape Survivor as quickly as possible.
